High School Overview
A culmination of 21st century education and Christian-Catholic values, each graduate leaves St. Anthony ready for the world. Obtaining a diploma from St. Anthony High School’s rigorous college preparatory program bears notice and prestige. Our academic program is known for graduating well-rounded individuals who are highly developed spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. In addition, each student leaves with a network of friends turned family and teachers turned mentors.
Beginning in 1848, St. Anthony School grew from a one-room schoolhouse erected by the Sacred Heart’s Fathers on the grounds of St. Anthony Church. A Diocesan institution, St. Anthony High School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA), Hawaii‘i Association of Independent Schools (HAIS) and sponsored and endowed by the Marianist Province of the United States (Society of Mary).
Collaborative Learning and Teaching
St. Anthony High School is unique in its ability to create an open and collaborative climate, where students are encouraged to ask questions, actively listen and express themselves respectfully. Students are taught to observe and notice the world around them, and to consider the question, “What can I do to make a difference here?” The most successful people in life have garnered an inquisitive mind that never stops learning.
The benefit to an education at St. Anthony is that students not only work with exceptional educators, but they receive a friend and trusted mentor for life. Having an open dialogue with an advisor whose morals are cemented in Christian-Catholic faith, has proven invaluable. Students have access to helpful teachers, counselors and the campus ministries to help guide them. Teaching is just as important as learning at St. Anthony School.
Our adaptive, 21st century classrooms offer advanced tools and teaching strategies in the fields of math, science and technology. Students are taught to develop concern for global and local issues regarding culture, ecology, and the use of technology in these areas.
College Prep Emphasis
“So, what are colleges looking for?” – critical thinking skills, collaboration, good communication skills, time management, good study habits, concentration and organizational skills. All, of which, are achievable for St. Anthony High School graduates. Above and beyond, our graduates have developed the ability to motivate themselves and others. Students set goals for themselves, and find themselves reaching and regularly exceed these goals.
The traditions at St. Anthony School have created an open and inviting environment, conducive to participation in clubs, sports and other social events. Colleges that are looking for leadership and initiative in extracurricular activities, will find that in a St. Anthony Schoolgraduate. Our campus philosophy also encourages community service and outreach, another prime attribute for a well-rounded individual.
St. Anthony School proudly boasts 90% of graduates continue on to college. Since 2010, 100% of our graduates have been accepted into a college, a university, an apprenticeship or military service. Last year, our graduates received over $2.2 million in merit scholarship and grants. Our accomplished staff, students and graduates continue to cement our legacy as an exemplary academic institution.
