BOOK DRIVE FOR KAPIOLANI MEDICAL CENTER PATIENTS

St. Anthony School 8th-grader Kali Spalding’s love for reading motivated her to launch a new book drive for young patients at Kapiolani Medical Center on Oahu.

“I hope, through my book drive, to comfort children that may find peace in the pages of a good book,” Kali said. The book drive will run for 10 days from September 11th through September 22nd.

Donors are encouraged to drop off new books geared for middle and high school aged students between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Friday, at St. Anthony School. Specially marked boxes will be posted on the three St. Anthony campuses – K-5, 6-8, 9-12 – and at the middle and high school front office.

Details about Kali’s book drive are on a Web site she created: https://808kalgraceschool.wixsite.com/mysite

Kali’s goal is collect 500 books. Barnes & Noble book store has already contributed 250 books and Lowe’s on Maui has donated collection boxes.

Donors with more than 25 books are asked to contact Kali prior to drop off. Contact information is on the book drive Web site listed above.
