“There’s no such thing as a math brain” Growth Mind Set

Kapu graduated from Kamehameha Schools Kapalama and continued her education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She graduated with a BA in Accounting and went on to receive her Master of Arts degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. She is currently working on her MA in Secondary Education.

Kapu brings a wealth of knowledge in the math and accounting field to our St. Anthony School Ohana. Before teaching, she worked as an accountant for 20 years, including 13 years with Mental Health Kokua. This year marks Kapu’s third year at SAS. She taught 5th grade the first two years, and now, co-teaches with Denise Cornell (4th grade teacher). Kapu teaches 4th and 5th grade math and science. She enjoys teaching and appreciates the students’ love for learning, exploration, and their quest for knowledge. “They’re so sweet,” she says. She especially loves teaching at a Catholic School because she has the opportunity to teach FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE.

Kapu lives in Wailuku with her two children: Jazelle, a 7th grader at Kamehameha School Maui, and Josiah, a 4th grade student at St. Anthony. Kapu enjoys spending time with her kids and likes to do yoga.

We are blessed to have Kapu as part of our St. Anthony Ohana!

"I’m thankful for the sense of community and cultural blending that was part of St. Anthony. Only after going to the mainland, did I appreciate how fortunate I was to have grown up in this setting."
