St. Anthony School Staff Member Bio

Cecilia Schmidt
First Grade B

cecilia schmidt

We are blessed to have Cecilia Schmidt on our St. Anthony staff, who believes her vocation is to teach in Catholic Schools for life.   Born and raised into a close knit family in Southern CA, she’s a proud product of Catholic schools graduating from St. Matthias High School in Downey, CA.

She earned her undergraduate degree from California State Fullerton .  Later she obtained a master degree from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona and then a second masters degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA in Elementary Education. This exemplifies her personal commitment to higher education and learning.

Cecilia contributes immensely to our culturally diverse staff as a bilingual Spanish and English speaker who loves her first graders. She’s a proven advocate for her students and initiative taker as she started an Art program and curriculum for her last school as she saw the need for the arts there.   Additionally she also started a summer enrichment program for students as she observed a need there as well.

She’s also been active on various Latinos in Action Leadership teams and has sat on the WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) accreditation team in her last school.

An astronomer at heart, she loves tracking stars and satellites with her telescope through the Maui night sky.  She’s a newlywed and beach girl at heart enjoying her new island home while completely passionate about teaching here with her St. Anthony family.

"I’m thankful for the sense of community and cultural blending that was part of St. Anthony. Only after going to the mainland, did I appreciate how fortunate I was to have grown up in this setting."
