Brian Millar
Dean of Students, Director of Athletics

brian millar

Brian Millar competed as a Division-I college athlete and graduated from Pepperdine University with his B.A. and holds a Master’s of Science in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University.

In 2001, he began his teaching career at Calvary Christian School in Southern California, teaching grades 6-8 and also served as the Athletic Director from 2006-2010.  He then continued teaching at Oaks Christian School, of national renown, where he also coached Boys’ high school basketball, and helped lead them to a C.I.F. Division IV Championship.  While coaching at Oaks’ Christian, he served as an assistant coach, video coordinator, and strength and conditioning coordinator to the boy’s basketball team.  At both Southern California schools, he designed weight rooms, taught classes, and developed training programs for the schools’ athletes and students.

A native to California, Brian and his family uprooted to the top of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, where he coached Men’s Basketball at Covenant College.  While there as the Assistant Men’s Coach and Head Junior Varsity Coach, Millar was described as “a great teacher of the game, articulate and thoughtful about his communication and interaction with his players both in practice and games, and very mature as a husband, father, and mentor.”  With certifications in Performance Enhancement and Personal Training from the National Academy of Sports Medicine he also served as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for all NCAA sports teams at Covenant College.

In 2014, Millar and his family once again moved across the country and the ocean to Maui, for him to serve as Athletic Director to St. Anthony High School.  He also taught classes and in 2016 he took on the position of the Dean of Students for the Middle and High School.  His passion to see Saint Anthony’s succeed is evident in his interactions with the students and staff, his tenure, and working on multiple projects to bring improved and new facilities to the campus.

When he is not working, his favorite thing to do is spend time with his family.  He attends church regularly and is thankful for clean eating and exercise.  That is a good thing, because for the past 16 years, Millar also works the beaches of Malibu, California as an Ocean Recurrent Lifeguard with the Los Angeles County Fire Department during a part of his summers.

"I’m thankful for the sense of community and cultural blending that was part of St. Anthony. Only after going to the mainland, did I appreciate how fortunate I was to have grown up in this setting."
