The Boat That Floats

The Boat That Floats

Q: What do you get when you mix milk cartons, tape and a lot of love?

A: A boat that floats!

St. Anthony Jr. Sr. High School will be entered two boats in the Meadow Gold Milk Carton Race on Saturday, April 26th at Canoe Beach in Lahaina. Students in both the middle and high school have been working diligently to create the perfect watercraft to compete in the competition and they take their work seriously. The high school boat is named Feng Yao, which is Chinese for “fat cow” a name that was affectionately given by Ching Man So, a senior who has been working on the project. The students took their creation to the beach fronting Hoaloha Park in Kahului to test out and fortunately it did what it was supposed to do, float. They toured the water a bit before taking the watercraft on shore to clean in preparation for the big day.

We are happy to report that their hard work and determination paid off with a first place finish in the competition. It is the second year in a row that they walk away with the honors and they are pleased to bring home the gold! Congratulation!
