It has certainly been a busy year for the St. Anthony band. They practice their hearts out during class time and beyond as they work to perfect their musical presentation. Recently, they held a band concert for the St. Anthony Grade School students and it was a wonderful treat! Band leader Everett Yamashita took the students on a tour of the various instruments so that they could hear the different tones that they produced. As they played, the youngsters in the crowd started to dance in their seats and the look on their faces would make anyone smile. They have also taken their show on the road as they traveled to Lahaina to perform at Sacred Hearts School.
Upcoming events include their “Aloha Concert” that will be held on May 8th in the St. Anthony Church Center at 6:30 pm. Performing that evening will be all segments of the band: the jazz ensemble, beginning band, concert band and the symphonic band. They will also be presenting the year end awards and introducing the band officers for next year. The public is welcome to attend and while admission is free they do request for a non-perishable item to be donated. Come and enjoy a musical evening!
