LIFE

The Living In Faith Experience, better known as LIFE, is a leadership and ministry workshop for high school students who are Juniors and Seniors to be in the next school year. The following schools and parish from Hawaii and California are represented at LIFE Pacific; St. Louis Schools from Oahu, Sacred Hearts Academy from Oahu, St. Joseph High School and parish from Hilo, Hawaii and St. Anthony Junior Senior High School from Maui. The California schools are Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco, Chaminade Preparatory College in Los Angeles, Junipero Serra in San Jose.

This year the LIFE program will be celebrating its 35th anniversary. LIFE is an experience that has helped to enhance the student’s leadership skills and their awareness of ministry within their school and community. There are 3 LIFE programs that service Marianist schools. LIFE Central meets at Dayton, Ohio. LIFE South meets at San Antonio, Texas and LIFE Pacific meets at Santa Cruz, California. The LIFE students of each school, upon completion of the summer programs, return to their schools and help to assist their campus ministers through out the next school year. The LIFE team for St. Anthony Junior Senior High School usually consist of 8 students and 2 moderators. A selection committee of former and current moderators and our Administrative Council review LIFE applications in early February. Our team is then selected by the first week of March. The Pacific LIFE program this year will be held on July 7 to the 15, 2005. The moderators meet first from July 7th to the 10th and the students join the moderators at the camp from July 10th to the 15th.

The students pay a fee of $450.00 to cover the cost of the camp. The remaining cost for airfare is funded in part by the Marianist and a fund raiser is done by the new members and moderators to raise the difference. This years fund raiser will be the sale of home made “Lau Lau’s”. Further information will be given out on our monthly newsletter. We encourage everyone to support our LIFE program which enhances the life of our student body at St. Anthony Junior Senior High School and we thank everyone who continues to support this wonderful program.
