CME

In 1991, the Society of Mary called for a contemporary articulation of the common elements of the Marianist educational tradition. To this end, serious research, consultation, and discussion were undertaken involving lay and religious educators who work in Marianist educational institutions throughout the world. The process was guided by the lived reality of Marianist spirituality, springing from the foundational charism of William Joseph Chaminade. In our philosophy and pedagogy we aim to:

• Educate in the Family Spirit
• Educate for Formation in Faith
• Educate for adaptation and change
• Educate for Service, Justice, and Peace
• Provide an integral quality education

Our theme for the school year is to “Provide an Integral Quality Education.”

The initial workshop for the CME was given over 5 years ago and a core group of faculty, staff and administrators attended 2 workshops that focused on these characteristics in depth. The main purpose of this workshop is to provide each school with resources on creating or implementing new programs or improving current programs at their schools. The planning of these programs were given a 3 year time line and the core group of people became known as the MET or the Local Implementation Team. The MET are overseers of the Characteristics of Marianist Education in each school. The Marianist have invested a lot of time and effort to provide a quality education within the Marianist Philosophy and therefore has provided us with an abundance of resources through the many sponsored workshops through out the school year. These workshops usually meet in late July or early August at Dayton, Ohio.
