Art

In Visual Arts, students have a wide variety of techniques from which to choose. Students can work with various printing techniques, collages and a variety of crafts. Students can take classes in Ceramics and Design, developing basic vessel concepts using hand-building and wheel techniques, and stressing design and the application of painting and glazing treatments to ceramics. In Drawing and Painting, students study basic techniques using graphite pencils, and explore materials, and the uses of supplies and techniques for applying tempera paint and watercolors to a variety of paper.

Music

In Beginning Instruments, students can learn an instrument for the first time, focus on the process of playing an instrument, and learn to read music. In Band 1 students increase pre-existing musical ability and their appreciation for a variety of musical styles. Serious students will also be offered the opportunity to take Band 2, in order to progress on their instrument technically and artistically. Our Hawaiian Dance, Music, and Culture Class introduces students to a variety of Hawaiian chants, songs, and dances. Students make Hawaiian instruments and use their acquired skills to give a performance at the school-wide May Day celebration.
