What is financial assistance?
Financial assistance is a program designed to assist those students who wish to pursue a Catholic education at Saint Anthony Junior Senior High School and are unable to afford the full cost of tuition.

Will my financial assistance application be confidential?
All financial assistance applications are completely confidential. All applications are kept in a locked file cabinet and students receiving financial assistance are not singled out in any way. Certain portions of the application (e.g. income, number of family members) are placed on a grid report for confidential consideration by the Financial Assistance Committee only.

Who can I apply for financial assistance?
Any current student or incoming student may apply for financial assistance. Incoming students must have completed the admissions process and gained admittance to the school in order to be considered. All applicants, new and returning, must have paid the $250 registration fee, and must reapply for financial assistance each year.

When do I apply for financial assistance?
The deadline for submission is the last business day in April, in order for the Financial Assistance Committee to be able to review the applications all together in mid-May. Applications are accepted after the deadline; however, awards may less than those applying by the deadline.

How do I obtain a financial assistance application?
Applications are available to pick up during school hours in the Main Office and Development Office in early February. The application can also be downloaded in PDF format directly from the Saint Anthony Web Site, under the Financial Aid section.

How do I apply for financial assistance and what forms must I include with my application?
To apply for financial assistance, please request the application from the Main Office or Development Office, or download the forms directly from our Web site Send the completed forms, along with the other required information requested in the application (e.g., a complete copy of 1040), to the Development Office by the deadline: the last business day of April.

Are students receiving financial assistance required to work on campus or expected to maintain certain performance standards?
All students/families receiving financial assistance awards are required to contribute service to school ranging from 30-300 hours, depending on the amount of the award. Students must also maintain a 2.0 GPA in order to remain eligible for financial assistance.

When will we be notified if we receive an award?
Notification will be made by mail in late May/early June.

If we receive financial assistance this year, can we count on receiving it each subsequent year?

No. You must reapply each year for financial assistance. If your need changes, or your student has not met the performance standard of maintaining a 2.0 GPA and completing their work assistance, you will not be eligible for tuition assistance.

How are financial assistance applications handled for families with divorced or separated parents or parents who have never been married?

All applicants are placed on the same grid when being reviewed by the Committee. There is a section on the financial aid form that requests information on child support and family status. It is noted if you are a single parent but it does not affect your application.

Will a request for financial assistance affect my child’s chances of admission?

Requests for financial assistance are reviewed separately from the admissions applications and therefore do not affect your child’s chances of admission. It is possible for a student to gain admittance and not receive financial assistance, if the need or performance criteria are not met.

Where does the financial assistance money come from?

Financial assistance monies given in the current academic year are funds that were raised or donated in the previous year. Monies are derived from fundraisers (breakfast/bake sales and weekly sweetbread sales), grants, sponsors, annual donors to the program, endowment interest, and individual contributions received from alumni and friends. The Marianists of the United States are a large contributor to the program.

Does St. Anthony offer any academic, artistic, athletic or merit scholarships?

St. Anthony does not offer any academic, artistic, athletic or merit scholarships. We do, however, have individuals that have donated scholarship money and set specific criteria for the recipients of their scholarships. One example is the A.P. Sereno Memorial Scholarship Fund. The criteria set forth for this award is that the student must be a Hawaii State resident, have Hawaiian Ancestry, be a full-time Student, demonstrate financial need, demonstrate Academic achievement, and be of good moral character. A Birth Certificate verifying Hawaiian ancestry is required to apply for this scholarship.
