Social Studies
The members of the Social Science department strive to educate, inform, and create citizens willing to participate in the process of building a better community, nation, and world. Through participation in the diverse courses offered, the student will reach a greater understanding and appreciation of his or her own culture and environment. A student can then apply this knowledge to the world and develop an informed attitude and values toward world issues. The study of history and geography helps to develop a world-wide perspective of news and events. The study of Psychology helps the student to understand his or her own behavior and the relationships that exist between various groups in society. The study of American Government and Economics helps the student to identify his or her role in government and business. The department endeavors to help the students develop a sense of personal competency and Christian responsibility, in order that they may respond within the local community to the problems confronting us today.
